BT Innovation Labs is the first Biotechnology Incubator in the North Bay. Marin and Sonoma counties are home to several biopharmaceutical companies and institutions including BioMarin, Ultragenyx, The Buck Institute for Research on Aging, as well as Sonoma State and Dominican University. What is the intake process?
Our intake process is simple and flexible. Start by contacting us to discuss your business needs and project requirements. Once we understand your needs, we aim to get you set up and operational as quickly as possible.
How much does it cost?
Lab Bench: $750/month (Includes a 6-foot bench in shared lab space, max 2 people per bench).
Private Lab: $1500/month (~100 sq ft private lab, with a 5-foot bench, sink, and storage, max 3 people).
No additional fees. Free parking,wifi, conference room, janitorial service, biohazard waste, and other services.
Do I need to sign a year-long contract?
No, we don’t require a year-long commitment. We only ask for a 3-month minimum term. After that, you can cancel with 30 days' notice.
Can I terminate my contract early?
Yes, if your plans change unexpectedly, you can terminate or adjust your contract without penalties. Just give us a heads-up, and we’ll work with you on a solution.
What is your capacity?
We have 4 shared lab benches and 5 private lab rooms available.
Do you offer private lab spaces?
Yes, we have 4 private and secure labs that can accommodate your specific project needs.
What size companies can you host?
We can accommodate companies ranging from a single person to teams of up to 10 people.
What is included in the price?
The price includes:
Access to professional on-site consultation
Lab equipment, such as biosafety cabinets (BSL2), liquid nitrogen storage, ultra-low and standard freezers, refrigerators
Shared conference room and break room
Office workstations
Free parking, utilities, waste disposal, and janitorial services
What lab equipment is available?
We provide access to:
Cell Biology: BSL2 facilities, fluorescence microscope, electroporation, CO2 incubators
Molecular Biology: PCR, QPCR, PAGE, Sanger Sequencing
Bioanalytical: ELISA, ECLA, luminescence readers, flow cytometry
Protein Chemistry: FPLC, SDS-PAGE
Can I bring my own instruments?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own instruments. We’ll help find suitable space for them and provide written permission.
Do you offer cost-saving programs?
Yes, through our partnership with California Life Sciences (CLS), we offer discounts on products and services, helping you save on operational costs.
What permits and insurance do I need?
BT Innovation Labs is fully permitted by the City of Novato for biotech research. You’ll need your own insurance to cover liability and employee safety.
Do you take equity or IP?
No, we don’t take equity or make claims on your intellectual property. You own everything you develop here.
Do you have professional advisors on-site?
Yes, we have an on-site team with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and medical device industries. If you need a quick consult, we’ve got you covered.
Do you offer CRO services?
Yes, our parent company, BioTether Sciences, provides a range of contract research services, including bioanalytical testing, protein characterization, cell engineering, and gene therapy. They are located in the same building complex. Contact them at info@biotether.com for details.
